Agenda 25th June Neighbourhood Forum Meeting

Cheltenham West Vision

Cheltenham Borough Council and Cheltenham Borough Homes have engaged the services of the Nash Partnership to produce a vision for the development of the of CheltenhamWest.

Much of the area under consideration including the properties, businesses and parks lie within the boundary of the Hesters Way Forum and so will be of interest to the group as part of its aim to develop a Neighbourhood Plan for the Hesters Way ward.

The key principles of the proposed Vision for Cheltenham West are to:

Improve connections for pedestrians and cyclists across the Cheltenham West area
Improve connections to existing areas of open and green space
Create new facilities for community use along Princess Elizabeth Way
Change the character of the area by creating new landmark buildings or features
Maximise investment opportunities and connections to the proposed new
development in West Cheltenham.
Improve opportunity for investment in Coronation Square shops and facilities
Create new public spaces and improve the landscaping and play facilities in existing ones
For more information about the proposals please see;

West Cheltenham Forum meeting Wednesday 13th September

The next West Cheltenham Forum meeting will be held at;

Hesters Way Community Resource Centre from 5.30-7pm on Wednesday 13th September

We are pleased to announce that after conversations with elected representatives at CBC that we can confirm that a ward based application for a Neighbourhood Forum will be looked upon favourably by Cheltenham Borough Council’s Cabinet Committee (the group that has the power to designate Neighbourhood Forums and approve their areas).

Our task for the meeting is to agree which local ward or wards if any might be selected for applications to designate to keep local Neighbourhood Plans on track. Springbank ward having now been chosen as a Forum is leading the way.

This comes at a very opportune moment as the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) proposals are being brought forward. If agreed CIL proposals will require that representative local bodies such as a designated Neighbourhood Forums will be in a position to help the Borough Council manage funds for the benefit of each local community. The sooner we can have established forums the better we can help plan for the future.

Please let us know if you will be attending as we will be providing refreshments.

We are looking forward to seeing a good turnout, so please invite everyone who’s been involved and any others who might like to help!
